Burke Lake Park Campground
Burke Lake Park – Fairfax Station, VA
It’s day 4 of my cross-country bike trip to Seattle, Washington. I’m in Burke Lake Park Campground about to start riding once I charge my Anker battery charger. I’m kind of disappointed to find out after only 3 days my one Thule pannier bag has a few holes on it, from what seems to be a squirrel nibbling on it. Hopefully it doesn’t rain. The trip so far has been awesome. I have been jotting down notes for each day in a journal of the people I’ve met and the places I have been along with what I have eaten. I will have to backtrack one day when I have time to write more down when I am staying indoors. Maybe tonight will be that night or maybe I’ll dive into another campground or end up stealth camping. Stay tuned! Burke Lake Park was awesome! But, these campgrounds are becoming expensive…never thought it would cost so much to sleep on dirt. Hopefully, the other campgrounds are not nearly as expensive as Burke Lake Park. Free would be even better, but I’ll probably have to just start stealth camping in the woods to save money because I’ll never survive on a low budget otherwise. If you’re in the area I definitely recommend checking out Burke Lake Park…you can look at the lake below to see the beautiful scenery through the tree-line. I wish I had more time to check it out, but I am on a strict schedule of 60-miles a day to make it to Colorado before winter so I can continue westward to Seattle, WA.
